I was gathering the ingredients for dinner last night and reached my hand into my three-tiered wire basket to discover a lonely onion growing in my midst! "It's alive!" I exclaimed this loud for all to hear, there we 4 ears to hear this, my boyfriend, and a dinner guest (two ears for each person). They laughed and I was almost tempted not to use it for dinner. I wanted to run outside and plant it in the ground. I hope that it would give me ten onions later on this year. I do not know anything about growing onions or if I could bury an onion and expect it to grow other onions, but it seems like it would be successful. This green-topped growing onion brought a smile to my face and reminded me why I enjoy being a vegetarian and why I feel so much better eating healthier and taking better care of myself. The food I eat each and every day is ALIVE!

The "Natural" food label does not necessarily mean natural
The FDA reversed their original stance on High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) in April 2008. They allow this sweetener to be labeled "natural" since synthetic agents used during the processing don't actually come into contact with the corn syrup. (deliciouslivingmag.com)
Study your ingredients lists, it lurks in many processed foods, as well as yogurt, salad dressing, and cereal. HFCS has been linked to obesity, diabetes, and other diseases. A turnkey for cancer is an over-consumption of sugar, artificial or not. To allow our food supply to be ramrodded by artificial ingredients labeled as "natural" is an assault on our health and well-being.
HFCS does not occur in nature, therefore it is not natural. The FDA also does not need to list all exact ingredients in our foods in the USA. They can use blanket terms such as "artificial flavoring."
We do not allow HFCS on ingredients lists in our home. It has been banished from our house for 2 years now. It is a tragedy of neglect and ignorance on the part of the FDA to allow HFCS to still be a common ingredient in "natural" foods in our country.
